Datin Dr. K. Mangalaveni is a Consultant Physician (Internal Medicine) who earned her MBBS from the University of Malaya in 1974, followed by the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) (UK) in 1976. She later attained the Academy of Medicine Malaysia (AM) in 1983.
In addition to her medical practice, Dr. Mangalaveni has long been involved in initiatives related to special needs education and support. In 1998, she co-founded the Institut Masalah Pembelajaran & Autisme Malaysia (IMPIAN), a training centre for children with learning disabilities and autism. As the Director and Chairperson of IMPIAN, she has contributed to programme development in areas such as early intervention, functional academics, vocational activities, and therapeutic support services.
Dr. Mangalaveni also serves as the founding CEO and Consultant Physician of Seavoy Nursing Home, where she is involved in overseeing care services for elderly residents.
Her involvement in the autism community includes her tenure as President and Chairman of the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) from 1986 to 1996, during which she supported advocacy and community programmes for individuals with autism and their families.
